CSM Practice Exam 04: The Sprint Cycle & Scaled Scrum

CSM Exam 4: Key Framework Rules

This exam checks your knowledge of Time-boxing, Sprint Continuity, and Cross-Functional Responsibility.

Continuous Flow: A new Sprint begins immediately after the old one ends. There are no gaps for "testing phases" or "planning weeks."
Time-boxes: Every Scrum event has a maximum time. When time is up, the event is over, regardless of whether the "agenda" is finished.
The Scrum Master: This role is permanent. Even if a team is doing well, the Scrum Master continues to coach the team and the whole company.

Q:1The team rules say you must update technical papers to be "Done." The main writer is on vacation. What should happen?
A Scrum team is cross-functional. This means the team is responsible for all parts of the work, including writing, even if a specialist is away.
Q:2What is the best definition of a cross-functional team?
Cross-functional teams have everything they need "in-house." They don’t have to wait for people outside the team to test or document their work.
Q:3Who is responsible for making sure the work meets the Definition of Done?
The Developers are the ones doing the work. They are the ones who must guarantee that every task they finish meets the team’s quality standards.
Q:4When many teams work on one product, is it important to reduce how much they depend on each other?
When teams wait for each other, work slows down. Reducing these links helps each team stay productive and deliver results more quickly.

Test 04 Study Summary

1. No "Sprint 0" Scrum does not have special Sprints for setup or design. Every Sprint must aim to produce a "Done" increment of value.
2. Single Backlog If you have 5 teams working on 1 product, they all share 1 Product Backlog. This keeps everyone moving toward the same goal.
3. Sprint Cancellation Only the Product Owner has the power to cancel a Sprint, and only if the Sprint Goal becomes obsolete (no longer needed).
