Forklift Operations: Balance and Workplace Safety

Forklift Test 02: Safety Essentials

This exam focuses on Load Centers, Visibility, and Warehouse Rules.

The Load Center: This is the distance from the face of the forks to the center of the load. If the load is too long, the truck can tip forward.
Visibility: If your load is so big you cannot see in front of you, you must travel in reverse and look where you are going.
Right-of-Way: In every warehouse, Pedestrians always have the right-of-way. You must stop and wait for them to pass.

Test 02 Safety Summary

1. Following Distance Always keep at least 3 truck lengths between you and the vehicle in front. This gives you time to stop safely.
2. Stacking Procedure Stop 6 inches from the stack before you lift the forks. This prevents you from hitting the rack while the load is high.
3. Broken Equipment If you find a fault, stop immediately. The truck must be fixed before anyone uses it again.
